Enabling Compliant and Efficient Workflows with IPC

For any capital markets firm, connectivity and communication are crucial prerequisites for success. IPC, a leading provider of secure, compliant communications and multi-cloud connectivity solutions for the global financial market, is one firm that has been working hard to deliver more seamless workflows for the industry – and at FinJS New York, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer Ganesh Iyer took the stage to discuss his firm’s recent initiatives and the importance of creating a true connectivity ecosystem.

Iyer began by describing IPC’s “app store” environment, a differentiator made even more powerful by the company’s partnership with OpenFin. It’s not just that users can leverage IPC-developed apps alongside proprietary tools – it’s also that they can access a wide range of market data and trade lifecycle services available through IPC’s Connexus Cloud platform through any OpenFin-enabled desktop, as well as integrate third-party apps in the OpenFin ecosystem directly into IPC-powered trading communications workflows.

This is key, because when users can leverage a greater number of tools as part of an ecosystem environment, it is easier for them to collaborate, communicate and make decisions. And as Iyer explained, open communication is especially vital during times of volatility.

“During times of stress, managers are de-levering and de-risking, so liquidity provisioning often becomes transient. Bid/ask spreads widen, and it’s hard to find your counterparty,” said Iyer. “You need to have an ecosystem that’s not only large, but very diverse, so you can more easily find your natural counterparty, as well as any opportunistic or alternative providers of liquidity.”

In addition to volatility, Iyer explained how emerging trends such as new trading protocols, new types of market participants, the evolution of market structure and improved price discovery processes have led to industry-wide fragmentation, further magnifying the importance of open communication. By bringing together voice and electronic communications across the trade lifecycle, in addition to partnering with firms like OpenFin to extend its footprint and functionality, IPC is helping the industry navigate the rapidly shifting market landscape with confidence.

Iyer mentioned several additional use cases for efficient, ecosystem-based communication, including:

  • Investor relations teams disclosing performance to their clients, who may demand a range of different report formats
  • Risk managers working with third-party pricing providers, as proprietary systems may not contain accurate data on less liquid securities
  • Analysts on the road relaying time-sensitive information to traders, who are often more tethered to their offices or desks
